    Helo
I'm new to this tribe, but Roger knows me from a few other tribes. I have a question. I have recently been to West Palm Beach and Orlando area to work. Was only in town for a few days. I got the chance to drive up A1A near West Palm, I couldn't see the ocean for all the hotels. When I was in North Carolina it was the same way. Almost the entire Atlantic Coastline is lined with hotels. When I was a kid in '73 and '74 we to go to Gulf Shores and all over the panhandle area. There were miles of undeveloped shoreline. My question is, has the panhandle fallen prey to developement like the rest of the state? Is the wide open space gone? I hope not.

Yep...... sad to say. hotels, condos, beach houses. Especially in Gulfshores! Bam! Like an explosion. I remember Gulfshores as a child and there was nothing there and now it's like a high rise city! Oh there's still parts (that belong to the state) that is still natural.... but not much. There are longer strectches of undeveloped beaches in Florida, but there's also more coastline than in Alabama. - But I don't think that it exists anywhere that you could ride for miles and miles and just see the beach. *sigh

What irks me is that these hotels, condos, and such claim their part of the beach is private and you are not allowed! Sometimes it's hard to find access to the beach. Especially if a state park is closed.

Wow. We used to just drive down the coast pull of the side of the road and practically have our own private beach. The thing about developement that irks me is that the developers don't live in the areas they develope, so they care nothing about the quality of life. They make their money and that's all they care about.

yes, the 'redneck riveria' is packed. but west coast still has a few quiet towns north and south of Tampa. I'd tell you, but then the developers might hear <sh>..
